1979 merc, I6 90 hp loss of power

My boat never did this 2 years ago, but now is starting to stall. When i get ready to pull a skiier, and punch it. It bogs and quits. then i restart and ease into it then, i can hammer it. Also now once-in a while it just allo fo sudden for no reason seems to loose power, then come back again. Where do I start. Start and runs good unless I hammer it??

Have u tested ur fuel pump to see if its pumping at spec?? A quick easy way to do so without having tester is when running at about half to 3/4 throttle, pump the bulb on the fuelline a few times and see if it picks back up for a moment..If it does then ur fuel pump posibly needs rebuilt..

Sounds like idle circuit in carbs is partiall clogged. You might clean and rebuild carbs.
