First and foremost, thanks to all of you that make this a great forum? I apologize if this has been answered before but my searching skills are not the best. I am also VERY new to boating so I usually need more explaining and confirmation in what I?m about to purchase or work on. That being said I have a 1979 Mercury OB 90hp serial # 5495***. I want to hook the OB to a 6 gal tank. In order to connect the fuel line to the OB from the tank I?m in need of an adapter that had been cut off the old line and is MIA. I purchased one today that looks a lot like this: http://store.eastcoastmarineservice.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=MOE03347310
The outer diameter of this part looked like it was the same diameter of the prong on the OB I was trying to fit it into or over. (Not sure if the correct part fits inside or outside of the prong sticking out of the OB.) I?m including a pic of the prong on the OB, hope that helps. Inside the prong is a pin that looks like a ?stopper? for the fuel when there is no connection and I assume that the part I need has a center pin as well to push open the ?stopper? on the OB and allow the fuel to flow into the OB (Much like a valve stem on a tire.)
So, any help at all is much appreciated?
Part number?
What to ask for at the boat store?
What size?
Thanks again to all.
