Hi all- Does anyone know of a link with a video on how to do this procedure? And what is the shop time for this job? This should be a Alpha outdrive, correct? The motor was replaced with a 1997 350 Merc.

Being a 79, it should be a MC-1 drive (commenly called a ONE drive)

And what is the shop time for this job?

There is no "Set" time or rate for a shift cable change. It all depends on access, corrosion, and other problems that arrise. Usually when a cable is replaced and the bellows haven't been replaced for 5 or more years, that should be done too, at the same time.
Somewhere between 4 and 10 hours.

When I do a bellows job, I always replace the shift cable, makes for a lasting repair.
