My first boat restoration' and so far I've got a full plate. I'm a carpenter by trade so the finish work shouldn't be too difficult. Although the mechanical side is another story; she is running pretty good so far & that's a relief but she still needs more adjustments and servicing till she can really sing. Ive always been afraid of taking on such project, but since this boat was made in WA state I'd figure why not. Chasing that nostalgia on restoring the boat especially living here in the Pacific Northwest.

A great place to start - with pics here is a link to the forum with the tutorials for embedding pics and videos so they show up

http://forums.iboats.com/forum/forum-rules-and-guidelines

then you get picks in the body of the thread post like this

In case you havent read them, here is the DIY section on hull restoration http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat-...at-information

suggest reading link 14 in its entirety, then move on to links 2, 3, 4a, 4b

Bruhh thats like a gold mine for information. Thanks a bunch... also I took a sample of the foam from the worst area that puddles up, the tube went through easy for the first inch or so then got really hard to push in further. Hopefully that's a good sign.

push it all the way down to the hull, twisting as needed, then pull out the sample and check.

if you have any moisture in the foam = bad
if you have puddled water in the foam = bad

The great northwest gave a little break from all this liquid sun shine & were dry enough so I could do some damage on prepping the boat.

I see you got similar project going on' how's your 470 mercruiser treating you so far?

I currently have a boat shaped object... but slowly coming along. I haven't actually heard the 470 run yet, heading out shortly to put on new fuel pump and see if she'll crank!

Currently contemplating on paint design but she will probably look like this when all said and done. The wake tower will also be custom built by my "wish me luck" I've got a bunch of 2 inch aluminum pipes from my eltrical department which will serve as pole holder, speaker holder & Bimini top which will also be hand stiched by me. I'm trying to spend the least amount of money so the wake tower will be most likely a faux not the less & and will be incorporatin a tow bracket at the back of the boat mounted on the floor etc for tubing and waters ports activity.

I replaced my ignitor & starter coil with new plugs & now she fires right up. Although I still need to adjust or maybe replace shifter cables. Reverse is a bit stiff when giving it throttle and I think there's something fishy about my neutral cut off cause i gotta play around with it ton even crank the boat sometimes.

The great northwest got some sunshine over the weekend. All body work were completed and got in my very first top coat. I'm getting quite anxious to see what the final coat of paint will look like. So far the rustoleum pro gloss white is looking pretty good and with very good coverage.

Ahh wake tower turned out solid; will definitely hold up for accessories and bimini tops.
