1979-vs newer model

I recently purchased a 1979 v-6 150 hp Mercury, Currently is isnt running correctly,, Wanted your opinion on weather I should get rid of this engine and look for a newer model or spend the time and get this one running correctly,,, Your ideas please..

if she has good compression in all cylinders,<br />I would deff. fix the old one. my 70 115 merc<br />still runs great!<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.

Yep, get a manual and figure this one out. Could be a simple adjustment will get you back on the water....cheap! What are the symptoms?
