I need to fill up my reservoir with fluid but can not loosen the fill screw. I have a large impact bit that should work, but I'm at the point if I go any farther I will completely destroy the screw slot. I've been soaking it in pb blaster for a couple of days but thats no help. can I use heat or is this a place I shouldn't?

I decided to just remove the tilt trim unit and switch it out with the one on my 81' 140 rude. Now I can't get the pin holding the tilt ram on. That thing is seized tight. How should I go about getting that to budge?

I either have to get the fill screw loose or the pin out so I can swap units. Help!

I have a long 18" square-shank screwdriver. Purchased just for slotted lower unit drain plugs. Huge screwdriver tip. If I force the head of the screw driver into the screw slot, then use a crescent wrench on the shank to assist in turning-it will usually budge the screw head. Good luck. Most auto parts stores also sell a hammer drive screwdriver. Made for screws that won't budge. Big slotted head and an internal twist mechanism. When you rap it with a hammer, it moves the head just enough to break it free.

Get an impact driver with the correct bit and you should get it out. Plus you'll use it for other things on the motor.
