1980 50hp prop removal

have a 80 50hp 4 cyl merc and I cant get the @#$%^ prop off it seems to be froze to the shaft.:mad:
any tricks or suggestions would be helpfull

also where is the thermostat or does it have one?:confused:

Hi,

Here are some pictures of a prop puller.
When you get it off clean the splines up and use some grease on them to aid in removal next time.
You do not have a thermostat.

As you can see there are several styles and this is not all of them that are made. I would use a puller simular to the chain one. It would be easy to adapt another style puller with some chain to make one. I am guessing you have the nut off and have tried a dead blow hammer on the forward side of the blades, the flat part not the leading edges. I never had much luck with Kroil because of the corrosion in the splines. That white stuff is tough.

:D thank you I have a large 4 arm wheel puller I can adapt
and lots of WD40
