whats up with this motor?? everything i see says this is an air cooled motor, with a water cooled column???
mine wasnt spitting any water out so i dropped the lower unit on it last night, and sure enough the impeller was shot.
as i was looking at the column though, the water tube didnt seem to be really connected to anything up near the power head.
can someone explain what this is all about?

i have printed off the schematics from the sears web site, and cant I.D where, or if the tube actually connects to anything.

does this motor just spray water on the underside of the motor or something??

i dont want to take the column off if i dont need to.
has anyone tore this motor down to see what is up on the underside of the power head??
help!

Yes, the tube just ends up in the column. The water is just to cool the exhaust system. The water tube doesn't connect to the powerhead in any way, so you're good.

thanks!
i guess i wont worry about it then. just gotta wait for the impeller to come in the mail, and then the task of getting the lower unit back on.

The water tube does in fact! go into the plate just below the engine, it does not cool the leg or column, the water is pumped to the under side of the engine to keep the bottom bearing from getting fried, there should be a small hole in the bottom plate to except the water tube...and two small holes in that bottom plate for the water to exit and that is the faq's, don't screw you motor up by just floating that water tub up the column, shine a light down the leg and you should see the receiving hole just off to the side of the clutch,
I do believe that some models my have a deferent type of attachment method
