Im looking for any information on HOW TO remove and clean the carbs on a 1980 80hp merc o/b

its very busy up there, I see a few plates, side bolts..not sure where to start. Someone said take the starter off FIRST. I would like to see it done (youtube, video, step by step pics) before starting and also what parts will i need to replace and what can i reuse. Im planning on selling the motor when its done, but i want to do it correctly.

Thanks

My manual says remove starter to gain access.

Thanks.....I should just break down and buy the manual. The thing is, I come across motors frequently and would own 20 manuals

You need to remove the top and rear cowling support. Disconnect the electric first. Now remove starter. If you have sidebowl carbs, remove the carb covers as an assembly.

For any one reading and wants the answer.....

The strater does NOT need to come off. remove the breather box.....and the carb bolts are right there. The linkage is easier to remove with the top bracket removed...its only a few bolts.
