Is it normal for a solid stream of water to shoot out of the 3/4 inch holes directly under the lower cowl while idling ?

Yes. Esp when on plane.

that a biggun, dsujen? On my mid-80s 9.9, I get heavy spray when the motor warms up (t.stat opens, presumably), lighter until it warms up. Wouldn't call it a steady stream, exactly, but a lot of water. That's at idle.
