OK, been reading the forums here for a while and think I may have found a possible project boat. Aparently this albemarle exploded and seperated the cap from the rest of the hull....the hull itsself look to be in good condition and looks like a decent candidate for a conversion to center console.
I am posting some pics and realize that it would be hard to get any idea from these photos but I would like the forums input about the feasibility of such a project. For 1800.00 I thought it may be worth a thought.

here is the original for sale posting :
IT IS HARD TO DISCRIBE WHAT HAPPEN TO THIS BOAT!!! I AM NOT SURE OF ALL THE DETAILS SO DON'T QUOTE ME. THREE YEARS AGO THE BLOWER WAS NOT TURNED ON OR DID NOT WORK?? IT MUST OF HAD A FUEL LEAK IN THE BILGE AREA?? WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED TO START THE MOTOR IT EXPLODED!!! THE VAPORS IGNITED AND THE TOP LINER CAP OF THE BOAT BLEW UP AND FORWARD TWO FEET. THE BOAT SEPERATED FROM THE RUBRAIL UP!! THE FLOOR AND GUNWALES ARE IN PIECES. THE BILGE AREA AND PARTS DO NOT SHOW ANY BURNS. SORRY, TO HEAR ABOUT THE INJURIES TO THE DOCK HANDS. THIS IS A GREAT LESSON FOR EVERYONE WHO READS THIS. JUST THINK IF YOUR KIDS WERE ONBOARD. THIS WAS NOT A MANUFACTURES DEFECT-ALBEMARLE HAS BEEN MAKING BOATS FOR OVER 27 YEARS AND HAS PROVEN ITS DURABILITY AND VERSATILITY. VOLVO 5.7-STILL RUNS. THE MOTOR WILL NEED REGULAR MAINTANANCE AND THE OUTDRIVE WILL NEED SOME WORK. HARD TOP AND FRAMING ARE IN GREAT SHAPE-DOES HAVE SOME BENDS AND MOUNTING PLATES ARE BENT. YOU COULD STRIP IT TO THE HULL AND RECONTRUCT YOUR OWN LAYOUT. THE 24 IS THE ULTIMATE FAMILY FISHING BOAT AND IS EASY TO TRAILER. WE DO NOT HAVE A TRAILER IN STOCK TO FIT THIS BOAT. YOU GOTTA SEE THIS ONE!!!!!

ANd some pics :

Yes I would do it, but I'd try to get the price down a bit.
The boat is simply broken, the whole thing must come apart right down to the hull and start again, if it blew up it also blew down and I'd expect the main substructure to be seperated or weakened from its hull bonds.
The alum superstructure can be straightened with a simple rig and a bottle jack.

The big question would be whether you have a place to do the work, a big yard, a hoist and rigging to remove the bigger peices such as the liner.

Great boat when fixed.
