Hello,
I recently purchased a 16' Mr. Pike boat with a 1980 evinrude 35 HP Outboard (E35ELCSM). The motor sat for awhile so I am tuning it up. Part of the tune up is changing the entire waterpump assembly.
I bought a waterpump kit and noticed upon disassembly of the old pump, that the new kit has 3 rubber O rings that appear to have not been used on the old pump. The parts diagram in my manual says one of these o rings go under the impeller cup, while the other two go on either side of an "extension", where the driveshaft goes through, which i do not have an "extension" on this motor. The old waterpump housing did not appear to have any o rings on either the cup side of the housing, or the top side of the housing where the drive shaft goes through. Should there be gaskets here? Is it possible these o rings are not needed on my particular model since they werent on the old one? I dont want to end up with extra parts
. Thanks for the help!!
