Hello all, new here. My first question is actually for my dads motor, not mine (yet). his motor always starts great, idles fine, and initially runs great. wide open or just cruising, no hesitations or any problems at all. but three times in a row we've experienced the same problem. if we stop and shut off the motor for about 10-15 mins it will not run well at all. it will start fine and idle, but once you shift into forward, it dies. we can fiddle with it and get it to putter around, but she won't run like it did when we first started. not sure what's up. new fuel pump and all related componets (tank, lines, bulb, ect). newly gapped plugs. thank you all for the help.

when was the last time the carbs were cleaned, it almost sounds like its not getting fuel. if you put it into drive and one person pumps the primer bulb will it cruze at a normal speed?

I've sat there and pumped the bulb while he's tried to put in gear. It acts exactly the same. he has rebuilt the carbs and changed all the fuel lines, pump and the primer bulb too. is it possible it could be vaccuum related? I completly don't know anything about outboards, so i'm trying to base my knowlegde of car motors to this problem, which still puts me at a loss. thanks.

I will pass this info to him. Not to sound terribly dumb, what is sync and link? is it making sure all carbs are sync properly and linkage is ok? thank you for the help.
