th_0620120611b.jpgth_0616121337.jpgth_0616121338c.jpgth_0616121339.jpgHeres my new toy!!! I've been looking at this beauty sitting in a field for the last ten years and I was dying to get my hands on it. My uncle had the exact same rig in the early 80's except his was baby blue, and I fell in love with it. The PO sadly passed away last February and his wife let me have it for a song with the condition that I restore it to the condition that it was when they bought it new in '81. I happily told her I would so here we go. A few years back, someone stole the 115 Merc and cut the cables and wires, but it just so happens that I had a 135 Johnson and controls 'lying around' (yeah right).
She's in real good shape but I've got floor and stringer rot. I ran the Transom test and I found nothing but pretty, dry, unmolested wood (thank goodness). A seat rebuild, re-deck and re-string, a touch of wiring, and some spit and polish ; we are splashed. Any suggestions?th_0616121339b.jpg
I will snap some interior pics this afternoon. I'm thinking a vintage interior with round back buckets in the front and a wrap around bench in the back. It originally had orange/brown shag carpet but that's gotta go LOL

Welcome to iBoats!
Nice looking boat!!!
When you say the "Transom Test" Does that mean after you removed the floor you did core samples down lown on the transom and the shavings were all dry? If you drill above the floor level that is not a true test of the transom. the rot will be down low. Your pics are very small. Need to be 640x480. Best way to post em is via Photobucket and use the IMG Code.

Correct. I test drilled about an inch or less from where the transom meets the lower rear floor edge. Question - would it be a no-no to use pressure treated lumber for the deck and stringers? I wasn't sure if the fiberglass resin would soak into the wood or just slide off. The odd thing about this hull is; there is a tiny crescent shaped area at the end of the middle stringer that surrounds the rear drain plug - about the size of a football. It's not much of a bilge area, but I think a smaller bilge pump will fit nicely. Thanks for the pic info. I'm new to Photobucket and we are working out the bugs-so to speak. I've been lurking on this forum for some time now and have picked up lots of great info and tips. I just sold my '70 Glastron Bayflite 164 (yeah, I like Glastrons) to finance this project against the advice of my wife (big surprise) but I will not be denied. Does anyone know of any fatal flaws with a boat of this make (other than not listening to my wife..... actually, she's just as exited about the new boat as I am)?
