model #j150tlcsr. I bought an older F&S for this engine to replace the blown engine that was on my Hydra-sport bass boat. Problem is no lifting ring on the engine. Googled it and found them saying to make one to use on the flywheel holes. This just doesn't sound right to me. Does anyone have a more reasonable way to lift this 380 lb. beast or is this actually the way it's done? Thanks in advance, Chuck

I made my own lifting bracket. I used a flywheel nut and welded a loop to it, replace the flywheel nut with the modified one and used a cherry picker to lift the power head.

The holes in the flywheel are the proper method with the OMC lift ring. But what Daviet did will also work if you are a good welder. I've also done it.

Thanks, guys, just hard to believe the flywheel will take the load, but, you guys know more than me! Thanks again, Chuck.

You can borrow/rent a 3-legged automotive puller and mount it atop the flywheel. Some heavy duty straps or chain will lift the engine via the puller on the flywheel. If you remove the flywheel nut, make sure it is retorqued to the proper ft lbs. (140-145)
