Ok I'm going try an explain. I bought the boat and when I got home I got to playing around and the motor runs. Only problem is it stalled in foreword and worked in reverse. I noticed the shift cable was backwards. So changed it so when you push control forward the boat goes foreword. Now it stalls in reverse and goes great in foreword. I rebuilt the carbs and compression is 125 on all 6 cylinders. I'm stumped. I took controls apart numerous times but really don't know what I'm looking for. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I think you nailed it in that the control moves in the same direction for the failure regardless of what direction the engine is going. Going to bet you have a chafing problem in your remote control and you ground out your triggers as you move the lever by the chafed area.
