So i sold my 1982 2 cylinder evinrude and bought a i believe its a 1980 merc 65 from what i was told. the 65 has 120 psi on all 4 cylinders. and the carbs have been jetted. so my question is am i gonna notice more power out of the merc then the evinrude, and is the 65 a good motor?

Uhmmm...the last year Merc made a 65 in a 4 cylinder was 1971... I doubt it as its only about 55 hp at prop.

ok well he wasnt sure of the year... he just rebuilt the carbs on it for someone and they didnt pay him so he kept the motor and i bought it of him for what the guy owed him. it runs damn good! just curious if it is a decent motor. i payed $400 for it. and if it will be more powerful then the evinrude i had

In my book...no as they where only made several years. Make sure you get a tach as these wont live if you turn em above 5200 rpm
