I have a , air cooled, motor made by Clinton. Model # 5055106A, Serial 1480536, Type KTV50505A, with a Tillotson carb.

This Seaking starts and runs pretty well in the "start" position. When I try to power up, it sputters and spits really bad and the rpms won't come up.

Could it be that the fuel pump from a snowmobile isn't feeding it enough?

My best guess is the float. Could you tell me how to adjust the float? Also, could you tell me the initial setting for the low speed jet that reads "rich/lean"?

The fuel pump will supply plenty of fuel. Your symptoms are those of a dirty carburetor. Have to done a thorough cleaning (including blowing out of all passages with compressed air) and installed a carb kit?

The pump you describe is more than capable of supplying all the fuel needed.
