1981 90 HP Johnson

Hello all, and thanks right off. Dumb question, Does my 81 Johnson 90HP require a battery to run? It does have the capability to be pull started with a manual setting on primer, but will it motivate without a battery if I didn't have electric starter?

Your rectifier won't last long if not hooked up to a good battery

As already said, it doesn't need a battery to run, but running without one will destroy the rectifier. If you really want to run it without a battery disconnect the rectifier.
