Re: 1981 Chris Craft toilet empty
Could you post a pic of your head (toilet) ? Assuming you have a standard electric flush head, here is how it works: Built into the base of the head (by the way, toilets on boats are called heads) is a two part electric pump. The first part of the pump sucks water from under the boat through a thru-hull fitting and this water is pumped into the bowl. At the same time, the other part of the pump is sucking out the contents of the bowl, grinding it up and pumping it to your holding tank. When the holding tank is full or if it has sat for a while, you take the boat to a pumpout station at a marina or fuel dock. The dock hand will either do it for you or show you how to connect their hose to your waste fitting to empty the contents of your holding tank. Your boat may also be equipped with another pump and what is called a Y valve. For the most part this is illegal to use (unless you are in the ocean 3 or more miles away from shore). What this does is allow you to dump the contents of your holding tank overboard, through another thru-hull fitting. The only reason I bring this up, is that your Y valve must be set to the propper position for you to be able to use your holding tank and pump it out from the gunnel waste cap.
