Picture On my 1981 Evenrude 25HP outboard, where the choke lever is located on the front, as you know, it pulls out for full choking. What has broken on mine is the 'round part' that fits into the fiberglass engine cover and I'll call a 'grommet'. The choke 'lever' passes through this grommet, and I think it is supposed to help grip the lever and hold it in full choke once you pull it out for full choke. So, mine has pulled free from the engine cover and appears to be brittle now and can no longer fit inside the housing. So, is there a suitable substitute that others have used to replace this grommet?

Have checked with any Dealers? Some may have some NOS in inventory. It is listed as NLA

Part #204457 or 0204457

Just an idea here, but check out the rubber grommets at Home Depot (or any hardware store near you) to see if they have one that you can fabricate to fit into your motor's cover. It could just work out for you if the hole in it is tight enough to hold that choke lever in place when you pull it out.

See if you can find something in the way of choke knobs on eBay -- may find that the detent fitting happens to be attached.

My thanks to you al once again. Here is an update. Since May 14 to tonight, May 28, 2020, I have received no reply to my my email I sent to nymarine. I suspect then, that is their way of saying they do not have this part. :noidea:

I have now used a liquid I discovered that has softened the rubber and returned the pliability of the rubber, and so have reinserted the original, still slightly broken but some what usable.
