I have a 1981 25 HP Evenrude model #E25RCIM . Rope start. I am curious to know if it would be possible for me to some how tap into the electric lines on the motor [ that generate the electric for the spark] in order to create a wire lead that I would place alligator clamps onto, so that I could charge the 12 volt trolling motor I have on the 16 foot fishing boat that this motor is attached to? I see that the motor has the 'CD2 breaker less capacitor discharge ignition system.'

Define "possible". Seriously, I don't know just offhand if your motor has AC lighting coils or not. Probably not, but European and Canadian motors usually did. Point being if it does have the lighting coils, yes you can add a rectifier kit to change it to DC for battery charging. Otherwise, answer is no.

BTW, even if you do add the rectifier, it cannot keep up with the demands of a trolling motor. You would have to run the 25 a LONG time to replace what the trolling motor uses in a short time.

The ignition system itself does not have 12 volts anywhere.-----So you need the battery charging kit for that motor !!

Unless you have the charging kit, tapping into wiring will lead to some 'SHOCKING RESULTS":glee::glee::glee:
