1981 Evin 115 carb leak when tilted

Just not sure if this is normal or not, but I seem to leak all the fuel out of my carbs when I tilt the motor up for transport. I disconnect my fuel line before I tilt, mostly because I'm worried it will keep siphoning fuel.

Then I seem to have to pump the bulb for a good 5 minutes for it to firm up when I go out again. Motor starts fine once the bulb is firm and I prime for 10 seconds.

Is it normal for the carb bowls to empty when you tilt up? Do I need a new gasket set for the fuel bowl?

Siphoning is when a liquid flows from a higher level to a lower level. If the engine is off, you should not have any fuel moving back (upward) into the engine. If you don't have an functioning anti-siphon valve, however, the fuel can drain from the engine back into the tank, requiring significant priming time the next time you go out. I have had similar problems with fuel exiting the front of the carb on these older models, when tilted. Your traveling with the engine tilted may accent this situation somewhat, as the fuel may slosh out of the carbs. Excess carb fuel/oil tends to exit the front of the carb and collect in the bottom of the airbox. When the engine is restarted, this excess fuel will be sucked through the airbox drain, down into the #4 cylinder. This excess may make for hard starting and will cause a lot of blue smoke till it is all ingested/burned off. I'd make sure the gasket between the two halves of the airbox is in good condition-it will keep any excess fuel from leaking down into the lower cowl. New gaskets for the bowls should not make a difference, uless they are leaking while in normal operation.

Gonna bump this with a question.

Can you add an electric priming pump of some sort? It really is taking 5 minutes of pumping to get the carbs filled. Once I do that and prime for 10 seconds or so, the motor fires up when stone cold just fine. I know it seems silly, but I get tired of having to pump it for so long. If there isn't a fix for the leaking, then I'm thinking a little in-line pump would be nice, just for priming.
