1981,Glastron Carlson, Ski Machine,two speedometers

Why does my Ski Machine have two speedometers? One is non-functional, on is functional. I cannot figure out why there are two. Anyone know? I'm having trouble finding any kind of owner's manual for this boat.

The ski machine was designed as a tournament ski boat that would compete with ski Nautique, Master craft etc. All tournament boats have two speedo's just in case one failed during a competition.

FWIW some ski specific boats have a third speedo, so the rear facing observer can also monitor speed on a pass.
