O.K Just read a half dozen posts and lots of good Ideas. Here is my problem. My outboard which I purchased this spring will start and idle fine but will not make any power. I would like to know what order to start in. Compression, carbs, ignition? I pulled the plugs and notices some clean and some moderately fouled does this mean anything? Thanks PS it is a 90 H.P. Inline 6 of the 1981 vintage

Clean the carbs.
You don't know how this enginge was winterized, do you? If there was fuel left in the carb bowls you need to clean them good.

A fresh set of spark plugs.

Fresh fuel.

Check the fuel pump later when you are sure about the carbs. (Does the primer bulb stay hard?)

Have you been idling the lake since this spring?!

Check this one too:
http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=013170
