1981 omc 3.8 stern drive stuck down

i have a 1981 omc 3.8l stern drive that is stuck down. i had to leave it at the lake in a slip. i have been told that there is a way to manually lift and secure it so i can bring it home and work on it. so if anybody can get me pointed in the right direction that would be super helpful

Welcome aboard:

There is a quadrant gear on the port side of the drive. Remove the 3 bolts holdin' it on, manually lift the drive and set the gear up, re-attach bolts. It's easier with two people, but I have pulled it off with just me. I'd do it on the ramp in case you drop something.
