I have a new boat ? 1981 Sea Raider, SR155 with a 65 HP Chrysler and 1954 Johnson 3HP (I already had the 3). I bought the boat this spring and have spent the better part of the summer mastering the launch/load issues. I don?t want my 15 minutes of fame to be ramp problems on Youtube.

Anyway I can now drive on and off the trailer, both motors run great, the fishfinder works, so I think I will keep the boat. I would add that it does not appear the boat was used much. The canvas snaps were installed last year and that is the only modification I can find. One cigarette burn on a back cushion. Other than that, no rips, tears, cracking, oxidation, etc, that would come from the Utah sun. I don?t like carpet but that?s something I can change. The floors are solid so it can wait. It must have spent most of its life indoors. Couple pics.

My question is about the Sea Raider Company since this seems to be a well built boat. The attention to detail is above average. I know the company was based in Sandusky OH and there were several companies building boats from the area. Apparently there was/is a boat building industry there. From what I can see the company sold boats from 1978 ? 1990. I have found a couple images but no information. I would appreciate it if someone could provide a little detail on the company history and other Sea Raider models. And am I correct about the attention to detail or is it just that I am dealing with a well kept boat (I had a 1990 2002 Bayliner Trophy and the attention to detail on this boat seems better). I don?t remember how the boating industry was doing in the late 80?s. Was there a lot of consolidation going on then. Someday I would like to see a brochure for the company. Any information would be appreciated.

Hey did you ever find out anything about your boat? I just boat a 1979 Sea Raider that looks very similar to yours. Your's is in much better shape than mine though. I am in the process of restoring it. Any info that you have found an wouldnt mind sharing I would appreciate it.
