1982 25HP Evinrude Prop Info & Recommendations

I recently purchased a used 1982 25 hp Evinrude outboard for use on my 14' Sea Eagle
inflatable boat. I would like to upgrade the prop on this engine but I need to know the
maximum RPM (WOT) recommended by the manufacturer. Also, does anyone happen to
know what size prop was originally installed by the manufacturer on this engine?

I'll be using this boat mainly for hauling of camping gear to remote locations
So as far as the pitch selection goes. I am much more concerned with gaining
maximum efficiency while hauling gear rather than gaining top speed performance
From what I have learned so far. I understand that higher pitch props are designed
for more top end speed and lower pitch props are used for better hole shots and
for carrying heavier loads. Is this information correct or did I miss something?

Any assistance that anyone is willing to offer me on this subject. Would certainly
be gratefully accepted as well as sincerely appreciated.

you want to prop your motor to be in the recommended RPM range, in most 2 stroke motors is about 5500 RPMs, I am not sure about the smaller motors but I think it is about the same, you will have to do some research to find out what RPM range for your motor.

Inflatables aren't the ideal choice for heavy loads.
If you have a prop you should get us the numbers near the base of the blades or under the prop nut. I believe it came with a 9 1/4 X 10 or 11 very likely the prop would have been selected based on the application.
Get us the wot rpm and speed lightly loaded and with the typical load.
Motor is rated at 5,500.
Heavy loads use a 9 X 9 al prop
An 82 would have the old style 2 piece gearcase;this may have some setup
problems and limit some prop selection.Generally a 4 bld. prop will do better with a load
,stay on plane better at reduced throttle and handle better at the dock.
