Your motor was built by Eska.I believe uses an air cooled Tecumseh power head and a water cooled
exhaust leg.I dont know the exact design of the 82.But many have vent holes on the leg that the water should mist out of.You should be using 2cycle oil designed for aircooled motors like chain saws. There should be an air shroud and finned flywheel to cool the fin lined powerhead.Be sure these are clear of obstructions.

Thanks steelespike
Right know i have been useing omc tw3 oil.Do you think the chainsaw oil will be the difference? i will check to make sure the fins are clear,I changed the impeller and it has plenty of water spray coming out but it will start getting hot after a coulple of hundred yards of running,i will check the fins and get back with you. so these engine do not have a thermostat?I looked up the model # on the sears website and cound not find a thermostat anywhere thanks again

You should be using that chainsaw oil at 24:1, Caldog.

Wrong oil and wrong mix. . . . you are lucky.

Good luck. :)

Thanks for your reply JB
Just took out my Manual. It say's Under fuel mixture- 50 to 1 ratio of a good grade gasoline to BIA certified TC-W 2- cycle oil that is for my 1982 7.5 hp gamefisher model # 217-585750 when i bought this motor"looks like it was never used" as a matter of fact it still had pieces of styrafoam in the cowling and no smell of gas in the tank, when i first satrted it up it was getting a little hot so went and changed the impeller and i have taken it out 2 other times and it still got hot the 50 to 1 is what the original manual says unless you know something that the manufacturer has changed as far as the ratio is concerned.I also own a 1971 5 hp gamefisher, that one takes a 24 to one,If i am wrong about the 50 to 1 will that cause it to get hot?because it is pumping water spray out the back of the 2 lower unit holes. thanks again guys

Hi, Caldog.

I guess your engine is not air cooled after all. My mistake.

So the fact that it is not air cooled and i am using the right oil and ratio, that means that water should circulate through the whole motor,I would imagine that there is a blockage of some type, but i am still getting water coming out of the 2 outlets.Well JB what should my next move be? i have aleardy taken the new impeller of once and put it back in.I mean it has to be going through the motor or i would not feel all that water spitting out the back" only it get's hot pretty quick, thanks again
