1981 7.5hp johnson- i was running it in a garbage can for 15 mins. and theres pinkish- whitish gel all over the inside of the leg. smells like gas. using evinrude oil(red) lower unit was just professionally resealed. foot oil looks perfect claer yellowish brown. is this just unburned gas and exhaust mixing with water? note it is not tru hub exhaust. exhaust comes out at the back of the foot. i think this only would happen in a can and not on a boat. maybee to much exhaust back preasure. have had many motors just nothing small that doesnt flush with ear muffs. any experience appreciated-paul

Re: 1982 7.5 johnson question

i have two of these motors and only one does it. im almost positive this is not a lower unit oil issue. using 50 to 1 evin./johnson oil and non ethanal 89 octane. noticed the residue coming out of the weep holes after use. the other motor has a slight black residue which is normal. anyone experieneced this? should i switch lowers and see or is it a motor issue? note they both run perfect and idle perfect

Re: 1982 7.5 johnson question

there is another recent post about that same pinkish mess on the leg. my small motors all make a mess in a barrel and drip white goo, then black goo for hours after a run. i personally think its a good thing....a sign of a well lubed motor. your messy motor might just have a bit more carbon on the rings, allowing more "blowby" of oil/fuel. if it works good, and you're sure the gear case isnt leaking....feed it some seafoam to clean it out.
