1982 Bayliner Capri Volvo Penta

I have a 1982 Bayliner Capri with a Volvo Penta. I attempted to start it yesterday. I dont think that it is getting fuel. I put fuel in the carb and it starts right up. How do I tell if the fuel pump is bad? Or what else could be the problem. Thank you for your help in advance.
