1982 galaxy question Getting ready to run muffs got a >?

So I got my sterndrive rebuilt and tested. I want to know when I put it on the engine a few things.

The engine looks new, gas has been empty as well as oil and otherfluids.

Of course I put the gas and oil in is there any other stuff I should do before I kick it over for the first time? When I hook up the muffs should I have the motor tilted up or down?
Also I just am making sure I am doing this right. Would hate to mess it up. Its a I/O OMC 400 series.

never ever ever ever ever run a omc stringer with the outdrive up you must run it down all the way only!!! you will destroy the ball gears and possibly much more. if you are refering to the select trim on the engine itself then about the middle is okay man it is so easy too forget and start the motor with the outdrive up when in the water they should have made a warning light buzzer or something on those stringer models. lol

Thanks for the reply. LOL I had to repair and replace the barings already so maybe thats what the previous owner did. sounds like it since the barings were all mush.

Ill do it mid way then when I get ready this weekend. Also when in the water riding the boat leave trim all the way down or in the middle?

are we talking about engine trim or outdrive tilt? because the OUTDRIVE must be tilted DOWN all the way ALL THE TIME WHEN MOTOR IS RUNNING!! you only tilt it up after you turn off the engine so you can pull the boat up un the trailer and tow home tilt and trim are two different subjects when talking about a omc stringer hope this clears it up sincerely, FULLSTRINGER

I had a feeling it was all the way down always. This is why I ask many times. this galaxy boat took my boat virginity and now I want it back!! lol
