I just picked up this gamefisher 7.5 motor for 50$ it does not run. But has great compression and looks to be in pretty good condition. The previous owner said he had it and put a new fuel line and gas in it and couldn't get it to start and didn't want to mess with it anymore.

what are some things to start with in getting it up and running. I dont know much about these motors and can't find allot of info in the web about them.
I was hoping maybe just a carb rebuild for sure at first.
Would anyone happen to possibly know of a carb rebuild kit part number and site to purchase from?

Also it doesnt appear to have an air filter on the carb, is this normal? Or is something missing.

Also I was wandering what type of female fuel connector to buy that fits onto the Male fitting attached to the motor?

thank you guys for reading my post and for any helpful information

Thats a 1982 model. I love them. Check for spark first. It doesnt have a filter on the carb and its air cooled with a water pump in the leg to cool the exhaust and the bottom of the power head. If I was you I would run a straight fuel line to the carb and by-pass the fuel connector.. You can find the female end on ebay. Dont go to sears.parts.direct. The carb has a fuel pump bladder on the face of the carb that bolts to power head. Its a pinkish red color. Im gonna send you a private message. Also some came with solid state ignition and thats a whole other issue. Check for spark first and read my message.

I didn't have a time to pull the flywheel off last night but I took a picture up from under the flywheel and was wandering if there's any way to tell what ignition it has from these pictures

What is the easiest way to pull the flywheel on this motor?
I used a harmonic balancer puller on my 55 Johnson just had to buy different bolts to pull it with.

some times you get lucky and take the nut off and hit the threaded shaft with a rubber mallet and it might pop up

I lossened the flywheel nut to the end of the crank and put a pry bar under the flywheel with very little pressure and two light taps on the nut and it popped right off no problem.

When you take the old fuel pump bladder out be sure and install the new one at 2 o'clock. Look at it carefully when you take the old one out you will see what I mean or look at the manual

Take that metal cover off and take a piece of sand paper and clean the points. If you put the shaft nut on and take a socket and turn it till you see the points open or remove completely and clean then re-install and set gap at .020 and try it. If the condensor is shot you can ohm test it to see. Google how to do it ..Very easy. 110 is great compression. You will have it running in no time for very little money. You can buy the whole points kit online as well with everything you need.

I put a new point and condensor on and set to .020 and I was still not getting any spark so I put a new spark plug wire on and checked again and still nothing.

What would be the proper procedure at testing the coil with a multimeter and What readings should I be looking for on this particular coil with my meter and which wires do I test?

also if I do end up needing a new coil what is the part number.

Thankle you guys in advance

still no spark
I removed the coil and checked from the spark plug wire to each of the little wires coming off the coil and I'm getting a reading of 8.5 on both wires on the 20k ohms setting on my multimeter dies this sound like a good reading ir should I be aching something else and my coil is good.
I have put on new points and condensor and set gap at .020
I'm also checking my spark with a spark gap tester that is working correctly on my other motors i own

I'm not shure what the readings mean.the coil is the only thing u havent replaced yet. If u still need a number for that I could find u one.there are several generic brands that work fine.
