Just rest the crank in the block and slowly move the bearing race until the pin goes in the hole. Don't force it, it'll go. When you think the pins are lined up and in, the outside screws on the top and bottom bearing caps will line up. If they don't line up or the crank rocks, the pins are not lined up.
