Do I need to remove #2 screws? I believe so but not sure. They are so tight right now, so using PB blaster to soak them a bit.

Yes, remove all of those 6 bolts.... and also the one "under" that trim tab. You'll need to disconnect the shift rod linkage too... located under the bottom carburetor area. It would be a good idea to have a service manual on hand to avoid expensive mistakes.

IMG_8091.jpg Do I need to take down those top 2 screws in the front as shown in the pic? My lower unit would not come down after removing all 6 screws. Maybe it was too corroded? I tried to hammer it but it would not budge. IMG_8092.jpg

No, the two small bolts on top are filling the holes where an anode would bolt up. There is one more bolt up inside the cavity under the trim tab, making for 7 bolts TOTAL. Four along the perimeter. One centered on the underside of the AV plate. One holding the trim tab on. One up inside the trim tab cavity.

In18 - Please keep all the questions about a single subject in one thread. No need to start a new thread for the shift linkage, the five-six screws and now two screws. Thanks.
