I am trying to help my buddy with his 4.5 merc. It will only start with the choke. With the choke off it revs to about 3000 rpm then stalls. It does not matter what throttle you give it, It just dies.I am thinking a major air leak, but you can't start it with the cowl off.(recoil is in the cowl)Any ideas to check first before I dissasemle to check crank seals?
