1983 200 Merc

I’m trying to help out a buddy with an old 1983 model 200 HP Merc. It only appears to be running on three cylinders. Can someone here help me with the procedure of checking the stator and the ignition boxes? It’s been way too long since I worked on one of these old girls.

I figured this old gal out. Whoever worked on it last had the ignition packs wired wrong. They had cylinder one and four crossed up and three and two crossed up. Basically it was trying to run on two. I pulled up a diagram off of the net and switched the wires to where they belonged and like magic it runs great.
