Newbie here- in need of advice/assistance.
I need to replace a few parts on a reverse hook assembly on my 2 cycle Mercury 25 HP. Part are ordered. I have the shop manual for this outboard, but it does not say anything about the positioning of the port/starboard springs on the Reverse Hook assembly. Each side of the hook assembly has a small recess where one leg of the spring is to reside- but where is the other leg of the spring supposed to reside? Against the casting of the swivel bracket? Against the pivot pin for the Troll Bracket? Short of attempting to find an old outboard and taking photos, can anyone offer advice on this primitive outboard? Thanks!
