1983 470 merc with alpha1 amount of gear oil

i'm winterizing my 470 merc i'm changing stern drive lubricant whats the best lubricant to use or just worry about getting a good product and how much do i need

Ayuh,.... It takes enough over a Quart, ya gotta buy 2....

I use Mobil 1, 75W-90...

i friend of mine has a jug of 80W 90 gear oil will this be ok?

It is better to use 90-140, but I guess if you are in colder waters it would work.
