1983 7.5hp motor water pump

I have the foot off my 1983 7.5hp evinrude outboard motor and cannot see how i can slide the foot up on the shaft and get the "key" in the correct spot so the waterpump will be driven. can anybody help me with the procedure for reinstalling the foot and getting the key installed correctly?<br />thanks!!

Your driveshaft is still stuck in the powerhead, and did'nt come down with the gearcase? Is that what's up?

Yes!!! that is what was happening, when i took the gear case off the shaft stayed in the motor, and i could not see for the life of me how to reassemble the water pump with the key in place,,,i pulled the shaft, it was a little stuck, and had no problem reassembleing it!!! thanks for the help!!!<br />rls11108
