as stated above I have this motor that has been sitting in my back yard for around 3 years. Today I took and old used RAC compression tested and checked my motor. This is the first time this motor has been turned over in the 3 years. I removed all plugs. the top comp. was 120, the middle was 119 and the bottom was 118. Have been thinking about having this motor rebuilt. What would you guys think about this. Also the motor was used in saltwater 9 to 10 months out of the year each year. The two months it was out I had it serviced and the water pump replaced each year.

Those compression numbers are from a healthy engine that has no benefit to gain from a rebuild.

Change the impeller, overhaul the carbs and go fishing.

Thanks guys , do you really think that that should be all I do to this motor.

since I used this motor in saltwater do you think that I might replace the foot or just go through it?

I dont believe in fixing something that is not broken, and your motor sounds to be well maintained. Those are excellent compression numbers. I would clean the carb and service the water pump like JB stated, maybe run a decarb , change the plugs, change out the fluid in the lower unit, and go fishing. Also a good idea to get in the habit of flushing out the motor on the muffs after running it in salt water.
