Over the winter I replaced the impellor, plate, and gasket. Removed, repaired the damaged blades on the prop and re-installed. (At low speed I had hit a submerged rock last time out last fall, first time out since then.)
Just went out today and ran it on the lake. As I was moving across the lake at ? throttle I heard what sounded like a bang. Motor died (it had been running rough 20-30 minutes total run time I am planning on cleaning carbs).
When I restarted the motor and placed it in gear it began with a vibration and continued to do so back to the boat ramp. When I got back home and I ran it on muffs, I was able to move between neutral, forward and reverse gears. There appears to be a slight clunking at low idle, on muffs I don?t run above low idle.
What do you think, am I looking at a replacing a whole lower end, or could it be something like the clutch dogs?
I have not started tearing it down yet, I have learn to first ask questions on the forum before I dive in .
