Hello all,

This weekend I picked up a Evinrude 150 (E150TRLCTE) and need to replace the fuel pump, because of a broken connection. Could anyone help with the replacement part number? I only can find the pumps for the smaller motors.

That engine has the old-style dual mechanical fuel pumps. You can check out the parts on the factory parts website: epc.brp.com. You will probably want to replace both pumps, as the original 1983 rubber bladders in them may not be compatible with today's ethanol fuels. Starting with the part numbers in the catalog, you will find the pumps supercede to today's part numbers: upper pump 438559. Lower pump: 393870. These pumps are not the same. You need to install them in the proper sequence, per the factory diagram. Probably around $ 100 each.

Re: 1983 Evinrude 150 v6 awakening

Thanks for the info. I purchased and replaced the upper fuel pump with model 438559. After replacing the fuel hoses on the bottom pump, and fixing the leaks, I was able to get the engine to start.

The engine doesn't keep running and now I suspect that the lower fuel pump has an issue. The reason i'm pointing to the lower pump is because every time I press in the key on the control box after starting the engine, I am able to keep the engine running.

I wil be cleaning the carbs this week after receiving my carb kits, but for now, I still think I have a fuel delivery problem to the carbs.

I plan on replacing or rebuilding the lower pump, but I am still having an issue with the part numbers. The pump is stamped 328781 on the housing that mounts to the motor. This is the same part number stamped on the fuel pump that was originally installed as the upper fuel pump.

I cannot order the correct rebuild kit as the number 328781 is not referenced anywhere I have search except for ebay.

Am I looking at the wrong part number or did someone install the incorrect pump before me?

After paying $300 for this motor, I would hate to have to spend $200 on fuel pumps :)

Someone please advise.

Thanks!!

The 328781 may be an old casting number (perhaps a vendor only-number.) It is not found in the current Bombardier parts database. That pump may not even be for a V6 model. Could be another reason the engine won't run properly. The original 1983 factory pumps on that engine were higher numbers (393648/393650.) Visually check the hose barb sizes on the two existing pumps vs the new pump you installed. Be careful with any parts diagram that says both pumps are the same part number. You can test for a weak fuel pump. When you get the engine running, constantly prime the fuel hose bulb. If the engine idles normally, (and also runs perfectly at WOT-) then the fuel pump is considered weak. The factory does not make a rebuild kit for any of their V6 crossflow pumps, so you'll need to pop for new.

This test you describe it what made me believe it was a fuel issue in the beginning. I had to replace the upper fuel pump because I broke the plastic fitting. When attempting to start and run the engine, it would die until you press in the key for the primer solenoid.

After taking apart the carbs and cleaning every jet, the engine started right up on the first attempt!

Runs great, thanks for the help!

I just need to complete some odds and ends, and I think this outboard will be great for my project.
