1983 johnson 75hp

I have a 1983 johnson 75 hp wich is running rough and is missing on 1 cylinder.Sometimes the motor will hesitate to plain out even at full throttle it is sluggish.Also on occaisoin the motor will race and speed up all by itself.In early july the motor had been sumerged.Any help would be appreciated.<br /><br />Thanks<br />------------<br /> Steve859@comcast.net

what you should do is make shure all the carburators anr clean of water and corosion and chect the reed valves on the one that is misfireing. you should then clean all the throttle lincagsfrom dirt and rust and then grease them up good if it has a timing advance than you should check to make shure that there is no rust or dirt under the flywheel that could bump the cabels that controol the timing advance.<br /> i hope that there is not aney pitting inside the engine was the whole engine dropped and was it fresh or salt water
