So as per a previous post carb has been cleaned and rebuilt and the motor runs excellent. Problem now is no water being pumped and getting hot.
Pulled the 4 bolts from the l/u to the midsection. Seems the problem is the shift rod. Does this rod split in two and fit into an upper matching shaft or do I need to pull the carb back off and unhook the shift rod there. ? I have seen and done both in the past

You need to disconnect the shift rod behind the carb, no need to remove the carb. Make sure you keep an eye out for the washer on the shift rod it needs to be there.

Got it. Just to wait for the impeller now . Easy access behind electric starter . Thanks
