1983 OMC Sterndrive 3.0

are there any sterndrives that can be swapped out for the original 400 series? i have one and parts are nearly impossible to find and no one within 100 miles is willing to work on this outdrive. i was hoping for some other outdrive manufacturer with a more modern setup and parts availability to be interchangeable with the original.

motor is a 3.0l

Do you really like the boat but hate the drive?

I have seen i/o that the owner yanks the drive and motor. Fills the hole and hangs a gill bracket with a o/b on it.

Just something to think about. You could part out the drive and the motor and with the money do it.
