The trim on my motor won't stay in position. After I lower the trim, I can watch it slowly move back up. Where do I start in troubleshooting and is it an easy fix, or long and expensive?

Thanks.

Trim on that stringer is with hydraulic rams for front motor mounts. It is probably moving back up because of an internal leak in the hydraulic system allowing the engine to settle back down in front causing the drive to go up (opposite of what you would see with a Merc).

I am guessing parts issue ultimately.

Maybe one of the hose connections are leaking. That whole system in a cluster f--k.

Could be the rams leaking 23 years old, hose got a pinhole maybe. The fitting could be leaking.

You want to keep it?? Then your gonna have to trace it down don't overlook the pump.

Sorry thats why i never installed one could have it for nothing.

Thanks guys.

I'll start tracking down the problem. There are no external leaks so I am assuming it's inside somewhere. I'll let you know.

Ayuh,... I don't do OMCs, muchless Stringers,....

But,..
Each front motor mount is a little Hyd. Ram,...Either could be leaking, aka. By-passing, Internally...
Also there's the Pump,... It's got internal valving that can leak,+ by-pass...

I'd isolate the pump, from the rams with added valving,+ related plumbing,..
Then run it Up,+ close the valves you've added...
If it drops,.. it's the Rams...
If it Doesn't,.. It's the Pump...

Depending on what the Lines are made of,...
Vise-grips might be all the Added plumbing necessary...;)
