1983 rochester 2bbl carb question

i'm tearing apart carb i was unscrewing the two idle screws at bottom one screw was 1 1/2 turns out the other was one turn out is this common to be that much difference when i put back together do i turn both out the same and adjust when boat is running or put back together and adjust the same as when i took out than adjust

They should be the same. If one requires more adjustment than the other, that is an indication of a gunked up circuit somewhere.

what do you mean a circuit and what circuit?

The idle circuit. Not talking about an electrical circuit, but the small air / fuel passages inside the carb. They only function at idle speeds - commonly referred to as the idle circuit.

Yours may not be clogged - just because the screws are not the same. Maybe someone has messed around with them. There was a post recently about adjusting them... you might want to do a search.

i'm sure i read 1 1/2 turns are a good place to start then i will tinker with them when boat is running and i'm going to give a good cleaning when carb is apart THANKS
