1983 starcraft floor replacement

i just bought a 1983 aluminium 21 ft starcraft and started to remove the floor to replace some rotting wood. the problem i have is unpond removing the wood there is foam floation under the wood and it is wet, so i don't want to put the new wood over the wet floation. so my first question is the floation factory installed and the second if i remove the floation does it need to be replace for floor support and to keep water from being trapped in these areas.

Deck. Buildings have floors, boats have decks.

Foamed in place flotation is almost always closed cell foam, which means that it is unlikely that it is saturated. . .like a sponge. . . It is more likely just wet on the surface. If that is the case it should dry out. The exhaust from a tank type vacuum cleaner can speed up the drying.

If it is inserted blocks of foam it may be open cell, in which case it should be removed and replaced with foamed in place.

take a 3/4 inch piece of pvc pipe, notch the end like teeth, twist into the foam. push out the core. you will know for sure then.
