I bought this boat nice and cheap, and now its time to get her on the water. Floorboard is rotten. there is no lower unit on the black max 150. and it has been sitting for a few years. There was no key to the ignition, so i purchased a new one, and will be hooking it up today. I cant find what ratio the gas mix should be, im guessing 50 - 1. there will be some electrical I know i will need help with so anyone's input is greatly appreciated.

Yes 50:1 gas/oil ratio...... If you connect a water hose to the copper tube you can run it w/o the lower unit.

If you have engine questions post them in the Merc outboard forum and the boat rebuild goes in this one ;)

Re: 1983 starfire

I had 3 live wells i believe. the front deck had a live well and the plastic liner is broken out. I'm planning on turning the bow live well into a ice chest, so no electronics are needed unless anyone knows how to repair or replace the liner.

the other two aren't cracked or broken, but i believe aren't working currently. should i do an upgrade to a new style aerator? there are timers mounted on both sides of the boat, but i cant get them to run, may be a wiring problem or the aerators are broke.

On the bow there is a timer for the aerator witch i will eliminate, and what looks like a charging plug? How do these work? where do i get the plug and charger from?
